Who is the 40-foot container right for?
The 40-footer is the best-selling unit in Panama for a simple reason: it doubles the space of a 20ft and, at market rates, costs considerably less than two small units. With 67.7 cubic meters, it is the natural size for distributors who need serious warehouse space, mechanical workshops, importers storing seasonal merchandise, farms holding inputs and harvest, and construction firms centralizing materials on site. It is also the most common base for larger conversion projects. The catch: you need real room to receive it, because a 40ft truck demands good access. If your lot is tight or your volume moderate, a 20ft will do; if you plan an office or home conversion, consider the High Cube.
Available grades and market ranges
A used 40ft comes in WWT grade (wind and water tight, ideal for storage), Cargo Worthy (structurally fit for sailing, certifiable with a CSC plate) or, when the project demands flawless presentation, nearly-new one-trip. As a reference, market ranges in Panama for a used 40ft generally sit between $2,750 and $3,200 before ITBMS and delivery, depending on grade and on what is available at the time. We tell you exactly which grade each unit is, send real photos over WhatsApp — never stock images — and quote in writing with a final price. Delivering a 40-footer: what your site needs
A 40-foot container arrives on an articulated truck with a full-length trailer. To offload without a crane, the site should offer around 30 meters of straight-line access, turning room for the truck and firm ground — rainy-season mud is the number one enemy of deliveries. Where access falls short, we arrange a crane or lowboy, with the extra cost stated clearly in the quote. In the metro area, delivery takes 3 to 7 business days; in distant provinces, 10 to 14. Before scheduling, we review photos or video of your access together, so there are no surprises on delivery day.
