Thermal Insulation for Containers

Thermal insulation is essential for any container to be used as living or working space in Panama. It drastically reduces climate control costs.

A container's steel walls conduct heat directly. Without insulation, the interior will be an oven under the tropical sun. Types of insulation: Polyurethane foam (spray foam): - Best insulation/thickness ratio - Hermetic seal (also sound insulation) - Direct application to steel walls - Most popular option for Panama Polystyrene/polyurethane panels: - More economical - Easy to install - Requires support structure - Good for DIY projects Mineral wool: - Excellent acoustic insulation - Fire resistant - Requires vapor barrier - Ideal for recording studios Recommendation: For Panama's climate, we recommend closed-cell polyurethane foam with minimum R-value of 13. This allows a small A/C to keep the container cool efficiently.
